Baseball & Softball Player Evaluations

Hello Steel Lake Little League families!

The Spring season is right around the corner! We are so excited to welcome you and your children back on the field. Please take a moment to read through this email as we have some important dates coming up.

Registration is open!

Click Here to register your child for the 2023 Spring Season. For more information regarding registration, please visit our website. We have added a registration FAQ that includes important information for the season. T-Mobile is offering grants for registration fees again this year. A link to the grant can be found on our website as well as in the FAQ

Player Evaluations

Every year we hold player evaluations to help determine the right divisional placement for the best experience for each player. Once player evaluations have been completed, every player will be placed on a team. Players will be evaluated on hitting, throwing, fielding (ground and fly balls) and running. This year we are asking for you to RSVP for one date so we can make sure that we have the right number of volunteers.

If your child is 8 or older, please attend one evaluation date. Little League International stipulates that in order for any child to be placed in the Majors division, they are required to attend an evaluation. For children not in Majors, we use the evaluation information to create balanced teams.

Used Equipment Sharing/Swapping

We will have boxes available to drop off too small equipment that you would like to donate or swap. Any unclaimed equipment we will hold on to and offer to families during the season.

Coaches/Volunteers Needed!

If you would like to coach or volunteer this year please complete the information on our website or by following this link. Before any adult can work with children, they must complete a background check. This will be strictly enforced. Once you complete the application on our website you will receive an email for the background check. This needs to be completed for all coaches, assistant coaches and any volunteers that want to help on the field or in the dugout. We encourage everyone to complete at least the volunteer portion so that every coach has a good number of adults to help for any need that arises. You do not need to have any experience playing or coaching baseball or softball to register as a volunteer.

Have you been thinking about coaching? If you are interested or want more information, please reach out to our Coach Coordinator, Chris Hobson, at [email protected].  This year, not only will we be offering ongoing support throughout the season, we will also have online and in-person coach training available. We know that coaches make a big impact on players. As a league, we are committed to making this a great experience for everyone on the field. For more information, please check out the “Coaches Corner” on our website.
